Quick takes

Healthy by Nature radio show this week
Should children with learning issues simply veg out over summer vacation? My guest Dr. Jeffrey A. Marler of Aspire Interventions says that would be a big missed opportunity. Certain fun activities can prepare kiddos to be much better prepared to pay attention and learn in the fall. Nutrition Health Coach and Education Specialist Jon Clinthorn, PhD of Natural Grocers debunks the negative press about multivitamins and proposes a basic supplement plan.  The Good Excuse Department
We are slaving away finalizing our brand new website. It will be fresh, modern and most importantly, much easier to navigate the hundreds of pages of content in the Health Library. I’m noting this to explain why I’m lightening up a bit on the newsletter this week. But, as you will see, there are some great opportunities for learning coming up soon and maybe I have earned my keep just telling you about them.

Vitamin A for Hearing
In last week’s newsletter, I listed some Vitamin A effects and teased this week’s connection of A to hearing. Vitamin A is well known for helping vision (e.g. night blindness) but until I saw this article by Bill Sardi, I had no idea how important vitamin A is for our hearing apparatus. Apparently, neither did the experts who put together this page on vitamin A deficiency.

The 9 great speakers (be sure to scroll down to see the afternoon speakers too) include integrative physicians, pharmacists, counselors, a chiropractor, a health coach and a massage therapist. They will discuss cutting-edge trends in the medical, emotional and pharmacological aspects of treating chronic pain and fibromyalgia. These are practitioners who have had real success. There is even a panel discussion to answer your questions.

Darlene and I plan to attend because the speaker lineup is just so impressive.
