He is an evolutionary lifestyle anthropologist and the author of Deadly Harvest: The Intimate Relationship Between Our Health and Our Food As well as Paleo in a Nutshell: Living and Eating the Way Nature Intended. You can learn a lot from his informative monthly briefings.  His wife, Nicole Bond’s cookbook is Paleo Harvest: Healthy cooking with the Bond Girl We talked about many ways that a paleo diet helps health in many ways. I always feel so good when I help someone or make a donation that I thought there must be a positive health effect. Indeed there is. In the blog I talk about the science, my favorite charities and how to make yours is a good steward of your donation.

 UPDATES

Two brain related items reported by the American Botanical Council

  • 12-Year Study Reveals How the Mediterranean Diet Might Affect Your Brain. Science Alert. November 28, 2023. According to a 12-year study analyzing health and cognitive data, using a dietary metabolomic index based on biomarkers obtained from participants’ serum, following a Mediterranean diet is inversely associated with long-term cognitive decline in older individuals. [Translation = Mediterranean diet prevents brain decline.]
  •  Adding This Popular Snack to Daily Diet Reduces Dementia Risk: Study. NewsBreak. November 24, 2023. New research suggests that incorporating more whole grains, such as popcorn, into the diet is associated with a lower risk of cognitive decline, with individuals who consumed higher amounts of whole grains appearing cognitively younger by 8.5 years. [Clear enough. However, I recommend based on other research choosing gran that does not contain gluten.]

 LAST WEEK Show Follow-up

LISTEN to that show in the archives.

We covered how the herbicide glyphosate (in RoundUp® widely used in agriculture) damages our good gut bacteria. And then (through a series of steps) interferes with the body’s ability to control deuterium (hydrogen’s evil twin). That in turn keeps cells’ mitochondria from producing energy so they can do their work. The unfortunate result can be anything from autism to cancer. We also talked about problems with the covid vaccines and briefly about artificial intelligence. My guest, Dr. Stephanie Seneff, is a passionate Senior Research Scientist at the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at MIT, in Cambridge, MA. Her has researched the role of nutritional deficiencies and toxic chemicals in disease. She is the author of the book, Toxic Legacy: How the Weed killer Glyphosate is Destroying Our Health and the Environment. Dr. Seneff mentioned the health damage resulting from endocrine disrupting environmental chemicals. Dr. Anthony Jay discussed that topic in depth on HBN, and in his book, Estrogeneration: How Estrogenics Are Making You Fat, Sick, and Infertile. For detailed information about the important role of our friendly gut bacteria and how to protect them, check out my book, The Probiotic Cure: Harnessing the Power of Good Bacteria for Better Health.
