Healthy by Nature radio show this week
Dr. Tom O’Bryan is a “Sherlock Holmes” of chronic disease & metabolic disorders. It will surprise a lot of readers when he tells us that many people with symptoms as diverse as heartburn, gas, irritable bowel, fatigue, headaches, joint pain, weight gain, osteoporosis, infertility, lupus, skin problems, etc. feel much better when they stop eating wheat, rye and barley. Dr. O’Bryan talks about gluten, a component of those grains. It has been shown to cause or at least worsen dozens of very common conditions. He is also responsible for coordinating an exciting online lecture series featuring prestigious speakers on gluten. It is FREE. Click here to register. 13 Lifesaving steps
Healthy is our natural state but problems develop when something doesn’t go according to the original plan. Cancer is one of the problems we fear most. In a new article on my website, I explain a “baker’s dozen” of prevention steps for breast cancer, but, frankly, most of the steps apply to any cancer and probably most diseases for that matter. I also discuss mammograms. For details on the following list (plus the science the items are based on), please click here to read the whole article.
1. Make sure that you have sufficient vitamin D.
2. Know your carbs.
3. Eat vegetables and fruits.
4. Support the team in your gut.
5. Supplement wisely.
6. Achieve normal weight.
7. Avoid toxins.
8. Limit alcohol to one drink per day.
9. Don’t smoke.
10. Exercise.
11. Reduce stress and anger.
12. Use hormone replacement therapy safely.
13. Avoid the night shift.
Supplements after diagnosis
Postmenopausal women with invasive breast cancer who took multiple vitamin/mineral supplements after diagnosis experienced lower breast cancer mortality than non-users. LINK. The results are all the more impressive given that the women were not told what product to take. Many were likely taking the highly advertised brands found in discount stores. I’ve found that most of those contain low dosages of important nutrients, poorly absorbed forms and unnecessary chemical additives. I recommend getting your multi from a health food store. Dr.’s Best’s new multi is a very good choice and is so complete that it will save you from having to add several other products.
Dale Berthon’s cancer recovery story
On the October 5th show, Dale told us how he survived bladder cancer by combining natural and mainstream approaches. Today, his PET scan shows he is cancer free. Of course, I can’t say that this program if for everyone, but I did say we’d pass it along. Maybe it will at least inspire patients to investigate these non-toxic supportive options. Dale summarized what he did this way: [Italic copy in these brackets are my notes.]
“Before I went through chemo, I took 8,000 mg of a mushroom complex daily. I did not lose any weight and I never lost any hair. I continued all the stuff below except for baking soda throughout my chemo treatment. All the doctors knew I was doing this and it’s in my chart as well. I monitored my pH daily. [You can test the first morning urine.] When I was first diagnosed with cancer, my pH was 5.0 to 5.5. [Very acidic, which cancer loves.] I tried to move my pH with diet to no avail. I started the baking soda right away. The only time I stopped the baking soda is when I started the chemo (gemzar, cisplaten) because the chemo was also increasing my ph. However, after the chemo. I maintained pH 8.5. I did this because I read a report that a researcher had seen cancer cells die off with a pH of 8.2 to 8.5.
1. IP 6 [Inositol hexaphosphate which is often extracted from rice bran], 8 pills AM / 8 pills PM on an empty stomach.
2. Reservatrol 2 pills daily. [I will write more about this soon.]
3. Cellfood, 30 drops in a bottle of water and drink four bottles per day—I drank a lot of water.
4. Fulvic acid, one ounce daily. I liked this because of all the trace minerals, which we cannot get from our food.
5. Vitamin, Melaleuca brand, vitality 6. It has an AM packet and a PM packet.
6. Mushroom complex 8,000mg daily.
To this day I have no symptoms. I sleep all night without awaking for the bathroom. I urge everyone if your urinating times are frequent go see your doctor. I was misdiagnosed for over a year [i.e. they missed the bladder cancer].” [On air he told us that his doctor was amazed but confessed he might lose his license if he used a protocol like this.]
Click to save a life
James McLester has been a guest on our show. He is a really neat, devoutly Christian fellow that I used to work with. Mercury poisoned his kidneys and now he despirately needs an organ transplant. That is very expensive and because of dialysis, his income has suffered. We can all help him–it is easy and free. James (I still think of him as “Jamie”) is a drummer on a music ministry. His band is in a competition and their winning will help him in several ways. Please vote for the band, Super Nova Remnant, at this site each day. You can watch a video of their new single, “MIRACLE” and buy their songs at this LINK. (50% of the proceeds from downloads are donated to Compassion International.) If you have the ability to pass the information along to friends, please do.
Last Week Followup
LINK to that show in the archives. Integrative physician, Alfred Johnson, DO joined us and took calls about cancer prevention and adjunct treatments like hyperbaric oxygen. We learned that the therapy is anti-inflammatory, anti-infective, protective of nerve tissue and promotes healing. Hyperbaric Oxygen is being used worldwide for conditions such as stroke recovery, autism, Lyme’s disease, IBS, cerebral palsy, MS, Gulf War Syndrome, headaches and even schizophrenia. Dr. Daniel J. Crisafi PhD, MH, is a naturopathic doctor (Celine Dion is one of his patients). He discussed premature aging, toxic chemicals and aged garlic extract. Call 1-800-421-2998 for a free sample of Kyolic.
