As you know there is a horrifying national increase in addiction to opioid drugs. Are people just using those more socially-acceptable pills instead of heroin and cocaine? Or are we witnessing the birth of a whole new population of addicts introduced to the habit by their doctors? What can be done on the personal and policy level? My guest was Scott Gillet, LSCW, CRNC. He is the founder of Briarcliff Institute for Recovery and Development in Briarcliff Manor, NY. Scott is a family and substance abuse therapist, a nutrition counselor, and an activist for a more humane and sensible approach to addiction treatment and policy. Mr. Gillet wrote True Bud, Understanding Toxic Marijuana Syndrome. That weekend he was participating in an Alliance for Addiction Solutions conference (Salt Lake City).
