Americans LOVE their burgers, but they are controversial. Are they the very definition of “junk food” or is the problem the beef or the bun (gluten), ketchup (nightshade and sugar), fries (another nightshade, more sugar, bad fats) and soft drink (sugar and corn syrup with mercury) along side? Are they destroying the planet or is the real culprit industrial farming methods? What about burger alternatives like the soy substitutes or lab grown fake meats? Author, educator and activist Sally Fallon Morell helped us sort all that out. Her classic book is Nourishing Traditions: The Cookbook that Challenges Politically Correct Nutrition and Diet Dictocrats and co-author of Eat Fat Lose Fat. The November event she is coordinating in the DFW area is The Wise Traditions Conference.
