How Worrying About Money Affects Your Health

I can’t wait to meet Dr. Brian LeCompte when he joins me in the studio. This interesting gentleman was trained as a surgeon, but felt the need to add many new tools to his little black bag. As an integrative physician, one of the treatments he provides at The Kotsanis Institute is “Prolotherapy with Platelet Rich Plasma”. It is a fascinating and effective treatment for repairing structural damage…for example to backs, necks, and other joints. My second guest is Certified Natural Health Professional and Weight Loss Specialist, Valerie Hall. If you picked up a couple of pounds over the holidays (or many holidays!) be sure to tune in for her advice.

Tomorrow is National Wear Red Day

To raise awareness of cardiovascular disease in women, February 3rd has been designated as National Wear Red Day by the American Heart Association and the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. This special day hasn’t yet attracted nearly as much attention as October pink for breast cancer. However, the effort has apparently done some good in the 15 years since its founding. (Read more.) I will likely go into more depth on the subject in next week’s newsletter. However, we do know that one risk factor for cardiovascular problems (for all genders) is stress. So, that is where I start today in the next segment.

There is now documentation of many specific ways that financial stress affects our health. There is information on how to combat that stress. I cover an interesting article on the subject in this week’s blog.

Last Week Follow-up

LISTEN to that show in the archives.

We featured an expert in how to get a college education—WITHOUT student debt or wiping out the parent’s retirement funds. Yes, it is possible to go to college basically for free–even if you are not a star athlete or in another privileged group. We discussed not only some of the strategies that my guest, Matthew Einsohn, developed and some interesting case histories, but also a few life lessons that will be helpful to all of us. I really had fun talking with him. Please forward this link to anyone you know who wants to go to college or is struggling to send a child to college. On average, better-educated folks have better health statics, but funding higher education can be stressful…and we know stress is bad for health. I’m very relieved that Matthew created Free Education University–so appreciative that HBN is granting a 20% discount on his curriculum. Use the discount code HBN20 at this link: http://freeeducationuniversity.com/ Call Matthew Einsohn, 214-930-3119.

MY BOOKS:

The Probiotic Cure. We now know that the microorganisms in our gut are a crucial part of our human instruction manual and that they control thousands of biological functions in our bodies. It is past time that we learned how to care for them because important varieties are disappearing and leaving illness behind.

Fat-Free Folly. Challenges dangerous mainstream thinking about fats. Supported with generous amounts of current science and grounded in a common sense historical framework. Learn how to build health and lose weight while enjoying more delicious food.

Natural Alternatives to Nexium, Maalox, Tagamet, Prilosec & Other Acid Blockers. Subtitle: What to Use to Relieve Acid Reflux, Heartburn, and Gastric Ailments.
Besides explaining the dangers of these medications and helping fix the real cause (which is seldom too much acid) this book is also helpful for solving other digestive problems.

Aloe Vera – Modern Science Sheds Light on an Ancient Herbal Remedy. Research shows that Aloe has benefit beyond skin and digestion–also for immune function, detoxification, nutrient absorption, blood antioxidant levels, blood sugar regulation and more. Learn how to pick the most potent brands.
