Remember the Bass-o-Matic?*
As I discussed on the show last week with guest Tana Amen (blog and clinics), a smoothie can be a blessed replacement for cooking–especially during the heat of summer. But, let me be clear, I’m not talking about something like the 40 oz. Smoothie King Grape Expectations II. Per the company’s website it delivers a shocking 125 grams or about 2/3 cup of sugar! (All the new research points to excess intake of refined sugar and starch as the biggest cause of heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s and, of course, diabetes.)

There are several advantages to a liquid “meal”. It’s fast, light, refreshing and easy to digest. It’s also a great way to get concentrated nutrition (even for sick people*) without popping a bunch of pills and it can be yummy. This drink could replace any meal, even dinner, but in my opinion no drink should replace more than 1 or 2 meals a day at least more than temporarily because we need a variety of nutrients from a range of foods. Also, we’d soon burn out on a liquid diet.  READ MORE—Instructions, ingredient options, etc.

*The Bass-o-Matic was featured in a classic Saturday Night Live skit with Dan Aykroyd. He  spoofed an infomercial by putting a whole fish in a blender and making a smoothie with it. I’m a fan of the skit but not the smoothie, although it might be high in omega-3’s.

Searching made easier
I’m excited that webmaster, Jim Russell, fixed the “search” utility on our website to work much better. We had to pay Google to get the app without also adding advertising, but I wanted to save visitors from having to find their way through our file structure. Now I’d better start updating the articles on the site like I’ve done with the smoothie one.

What’s up?
I offered to do some free 15-20 minute consultations to review the supplement programs of our show listeners. A couple of folks who had reserved a time had to cancel because of work conflicts and so those are available. The times are on this coming Saturday morning, the 10th at HealthWorks Mart’s outlet store in Plano. If this is of interest to you, call Darlene at (972) 372-0603 and she will save a spot for you.

Last Week
LINK to that show in the archives. Nurse and investigative journalist, Tana Amen, author of The Omni Diet, returns to continue our discussion about what to eat to lose weight, reverse disease and fight inflammation. This is her blog and these are the clinics we mentioned.
