NOTE: Watch for another email from me shortly. It announces a teleseminar on how to become a health coach. The firm that produces it will, in turn, promote my June 19 webinar on digestion.
Healthy by Nature radio show this week: Trauma (either physical or emotional) can create lifelong adverse effects on health and well-being. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as experienced by the military is a dramatic example. The memories of trauma are locked in the right brain. However, talk therapy communicates with the left brain. My guest, Jerry Mungadze, PhD pioneered innovative techniques to communicate with the right brain and thereby speed healing. His life story is also fascinating. Click here to find podcasts, show archives and ways to listen nationwide.
SIMPLE THINGS CAN BE MIRACULOUS
For thousands of years it has been known that being exposed to salty air is beneficial for many health problems including most respiratory ailments and skin conditions. When it was noticed that salt miners had lower rates of lung disease, salt caves became therapeutic sites. Apparently ambient salt helps reduce pathogenic organisms and inflammation. In the case of those suffering with cystic fibrosis it reduces the typical heavy buildup of mucus in the lungs. In addition to those issues listed on the subject line, salt therapy also seems to bring relief from symptoms of emphysema, psoriasis, eczema and maybe even snoring. The scant but positive science on the treatments is mostly foreign. Clients report being energized after sessions and it is quite safe for children. The salt is not ingested, so any accidental absorption is unlikely to affect blood pressure. In fact, some claim that the relaxing process reduces BP.
Going to the beach is a great way to get exposure to salt air, but few of us can be on vacation indefinitely. Likewise, most of us don’t have a salt cave in our neighborhood. Halotherapy (salt therapy) spas that are springing up around the country are a practical solution. The rooms are like salt caves, but cheery and relaxing. Besides covering the walls, floor and ceiling with salt, they also enrich the air with salt using a pump. Some facilities offer TV or yoga, but in any case, it is a fine opportunity to read, pray or meditate. Sessions typically run about 45 minutes and cost about $45. Sessions cost much less when purchased in packages. Longstanding problems won’t likely be solved by just one or two treatments, so it is probably best to purchase a package anyway. We should probably all go in for a monthly tune-up.
Salt Escape in the Dallas / Plano area exhibited at our recent Natural HealthFest. (I was really impressed with their kindness and commitment.) If you can, check them out. If you are not in this area, do an internet search to find one near you.
WE JUST DODGED A BULLET
As we all know, the US is desperately trying to create jobs, reduce government expense and control runaway costs of sickness care. The supplement industry helps directly or indirectly with all of that. Powerful US legislator, Senator Durbin (D-IL), slipped into a bill a surprise amendment to require regulations adding layers of bureaucracy, further overwhelming the already underfunded FDA, burdening supplement manufacturers with additional compliance costs (they must pass those on to us) and ultimately creating another threat to the availability of supplements. And current laws already on the books are already sufficient! Fortunately, the harassing proposal was caught in time and defused by Sen Orin Hatch (R. Utah). Thanks to those of you who contacted your Senators. The price of freedom is indeed eternal vigilance.
LAST WEEK
Nurse/author, Sally Pacholok, discussed her book, Could It Be B12?: An Epidemic of Misdiagnoses. The product I use is one she recommends. These tiny No-Shot pellets melt instantly under your tongue. The particular one I prefer not only has an excellent dose of B12, but also B6 and Folic acid. In addition to the neurological and other benefits we discussed for B12, that triple combination lowers a blood toxin, homocysteine, believed to be a cause of cardiovascular disease. Click here for a FREE 60 day supply. (Just pay $4.95 shipping and handling.) Nutritionist Gayle Pruitt and Andy Hopkins, from our sponsor RealFoodGrocery.com, gave practical guidance to follow up on my May 12 interview with fungus expert, Doug Kaufmann. One of the products discussed was Yeast Manager. Check this page for my questionnaire to see if yeast might JUST be the cause of any of your health complaints. LINK.
