Healthy by Nature radio show this week
When Rob Martin was on in February, we had a lot of fun learning about telomeres. They protect our chromosomes (genetic material) and their length is an indication of how we are aging. He is back to tell us more about the implications and how to reverse the shortening process. Then I will talk with Hamilton Cabanilla, an educator with Enzymedica, about enzymes for stages of a woman’s life, including PMS, Pregnancy and post 50.
Sleep like this!

A reader asked me for ideas about sleep and that reminded me I had never written a blog on that topic. We know that people who routinely get fewer than 7 hours sleep are subject to increase risk for a variety of unpleasant health issues, but sleeping pills may not be the best answer. Read the fine print on the package insert for sleep medications and you will see that there are potentially many very alarming side effects. There are some that are perhaps even more serious but that are not yet required to be in the warnings. In any case, sleep meds are not supposed to be used as a permanent solution. (We do not suffer from a deficiency of drugs.) Each person is different and means that there are many possible causes of sleeplessness. If you or someone you care about is looking for an answer, maybe there is a clue in the lists on today’s blog. Click here to read it.
MARTIE ON TV?
I was recently privileged to be interviewed on the Arthelene Rippy Show. I haven’t had time to look at this so I’m a little nervous about sending out the link, but here goes…Watch the interview on YouTube.

Last Week Follow Up
LISTEN to that show in the archives.
I shared something important that I learned about chemical fumes spewing from typical mattresses. Obviously, our bodies already accumulate toxins from polluted air, food and water, but do we need to breathe them for 8 hours a day while we sleep? And what about infants? Is it possible that one reason there are more Sudden Infant Deaths (SIDS) when babies are sleeping face down is that they are being exposed to more concentrated fumes (such as from flame retardants) than they are when they on their backs? Even those of us past childbearing years have friends and relatives who aren’t. Please ask them to listen to this archive. We discussed much safer and organic mattresses with Board Certified Environmental Engineer Barry A. Cik, founder of Naturepedic.
Then we switched gears and I took calls. We talked about topics such as balancing zinc with other minerals and red spots on the skin.
