LISTENER QUESTIONS
These questions were generated by Dr. Cass Ingram’s interview last week.
Q. Debbie asked: I get terrible yeast infections in the spring and summer, should I start the Oregano Oil now and continue through the summer or wait until I get it? The past 2 years have been terrible. Thx.
A. Good thinking. If you have periodic yeast infections, consider that you have a background overgrowth all the time that just gets to a tipping point with some additional aggravation. For example, maybe in the spring and summer you eat more fruit and drink more fruit juice which may feed yeast. Yeast can cause almost any symptom in the body, so perhaps you should take my yeast quiz to get an idea what other clues you might have to excess yeast. Besides oregano oil (see our sponsor’s site for various options), consider avoiding sweet and starchy foods that feed yeast and adding Dr. Ohhira’s Probiotics to improve the gut environment and crowd out yeasts. Be sure to take Dr. Ohhira’s at a different time of day than you do the oregano because the oregano is anti-bacterial. Doug Kaufmann’s books on yeast are very helpful in learning what to eat and how to manage the problem.
Q. Carolyn asked: How do you take the p73 drops [oregano oil] if you suspect an infected tooth?
A. In his book, The Cure is in the Cupboard, Dr. Ingram advises to put the oil directly on the affected tooth several times daily. Also to soak toothbrushes in a dilute solution with salt to prevent bacteria from growing. Aching teeth he notes can be due to deficiencies of Vitamin D, magnesium or even calcium. I’ve had interesting reports of Dr. Ohhira’s being very helpful as well. Tuck a capsule into your cheek when you go to bed. (Preferably after the oregano is out because it will interfere with the good bacteria.) Obviously, if these remedies don’t give more than temporary relief, you had better go to the dentist and see what is going on.
Q. Robert asked: Dr. Ingram didn’t seem to think much of annual flu shots. It is very confusing. My doctor and so many high-profile experts say we simply MUST take them. What is your advice?
A. There certainly has been a tsunami of scare tactics surrounding flu and we are made to feel we are dumb if we don’t get immunized. It isn’t appropriate for me to say who should or should not get the flu shot. However, it certainly wouldn’t be the first time that the parade was out of step. To help consumers make more informed choices, I feel a duty to at least expose them to some alternate viewpoints. Dr. Ingram spoke highly of oregano oil for prevention and to help suppress pathogens. LINK to Archive. Dr. Parris Kidd helped us understand the importance of DHA to brain function, cardiovascular health and pregnancy. (DHA is one component of omega 3 oils and apparently we may not be getting enough because of the way we are going about supplementing.) He recommends Doctor’s Best DHA from calamari. I also quizzed Dr. Cass Ingram about oregano oil for colds and flu, first aid and for yeast overgrowth.
