It is hard to argue with this shirt

Tuesday was earth day.
On the show Saturday I will talk briefly about alternative energy and my thoughts on climate change. Another huge environmental problem is toxins. During the days at sea while we were on our vacation cruise, Bill kept saying how hard it was to imagine the enormous amount of water on the planet. Every time he did I thought that as vast as the oceans are, humans have still managed to contaminate them with thousands of chemicals like mercury and plastic trash.
When we were taking an air-boat tour around the everglades last week, we learned how pollutants have harmed species of wild life. Pesticides interfere with the function of hormones – ours as well. Part of the problem starts with ground water. We can help by hiring lawn care services that use organic materials and choosing safe, green alternatives for our yards and gardens. A fabulous resource is Howard Garrett’s website and newsletter, Dirt Doctor.com. (Have the city pick up hazardous wastes like those cans of poison in your shed or garage. Never, never, send them down the drain or down the alley where they end up in our water supply.)
Ground water and ultimately drinking water are now also contaminated with medications. Those come, not as you might think from flushing or throwing away leftovers, but mostly from their passing through human bodies. Traces of powerful antibiotics, antidepressants, etc. end up in sewage which is then processed into drinking water. City water treatment is not equipped to remove them from the water…or most of those pesticides mentioned above.
On Healthy by Nature and in this newsletter we work to help you build health so that you won’t need medicines (see T-shirt photo above)…or at least hopefully will use natural non-toxic remedies. We also suggest that you filter your water. I really enjoy my Aquasana filter and I’m comforted knowing how much of the junk it removes while leaving the minerals in place.
Seminar DVD’s
Here is the link to buy the DVD package of lectures at Natural HealthFest 2014. The information is great. (Note, not all the speakers are used to being filmed but Bill at Audit Visuals edited the film to incorporate the PowerPoint slides. Pretty neat.) Click here to see who the speakers were and their topics.
Last Week Follow-up
LINK to that show in the archives. Alfred Johnson, DO was my guest for a listener favorite–we took listener calls about various health problems including Cellulitis, blood pressure, autoimmune thyroid disease and shoulder blade pain. He gave us this link to find integrative doctors who have a similar practice. LINK.
