I love my Fitbit and my standing desk!

Healthy by Nature radio show this week

Saturday is our annual remote broadcast from our 6th Natural HealthFest. It is always a lot of fun because many listeners come early and give us a live audience. There is also some excitement from pulling a variety of exhibitors out of the hall and asking them for words of wisdom about their specialty. This time I believe we will be talking at least briefly about an alternative approach for sleep apnea, the intra-oral camera to assess health of the teeth and gums, new ways to drink aloe vera, DHEA cream, and healthy chocolate.Call the live show with questions at 1-800-281-8255. GREAT DOOR PRIZES

The nearly $6,000 in Natural HealthFest door prizes includes: gift certificates for a series of detoxifying ionic foot spa treatments, a series of whole body natural spray tans, thermography and a series of HOCATT* treatments valued a $750. There are many gift baskets, one of which is worth $250. There is even reverse osmosis water treatment equipment valued at over $500 and a 6-month gym membership.

*The Kotsanis Institute offers the HOCATTwhich is designed to detoxify an individual from unwanted toxins that have accumulated over time.  The HOCATT acts as a personal ozone steam sauna, in which a person sits with just his or head exposed, while the body receives the benefits of infusion through the skin of medical grade ozone, carbonic acid, steam, infra-red light, photon light therapy, oxygen, and aroma therapy.  This is the only sauna known that includes all these modalities into one unit.

BIRTHDAY CAKE

I mentioned on the show that I had created a cake for son Andy Hopkins’ big birthday. The picture below is a decoration (removable) on top of the actual cake. It is a scale model monopoly board modified to make everything (except the dice, the money, and “Chance” and “Community Chest” landing spaces) something that pertains to his life. For example, the properties are streets where he has either lived or worked. One of the tokens is a chef’s hat because he is a great cook. Everything you see is edible (including the dice, etc.), but I certainly wouldn’t recommend it. This is a time-consuming hobby that I only dabble in maybe 3 times a year. I keep pictures as evidence because the “artwork” itself usually disappears in a matter of minutes. (When Jim gets this posted in the gallery on the website, it will be possible to click to enlarge it.)

Last Week Follow-up

LISTEN to that show in the archives. This week was a lot of fun with useful information in a variety of areas. First we talked about herbs for seasonal allergies with herbalist Chrystal Lee Cocek of Wishgarden Herbs. Then Crystal Sale, DC, of Animal House Chiropractic explained the benefits of chiropractic for our beloved pets and gave us the name of an organization to find a practitioner in your area, Animal Veterinary Chiropractic Association. Chiropractor Rick Kind, founder of ChiroSlumber told us about a study completed at East Tennessee State University on Olympic athletes and the improvement in rest they got with the right kind of mattress. (Also about special bed linens for menopause.) Another study caught my attention. It was about the benefit of saunas for dramatically reducing the risk of fatal heart attack and deaths from all causes. I discussed far infrared sauna with Phil Wilson. Fitness and Nutrition Expert Marzia Prince, explained ItWorks! body wraps. (All of these are Natural HealthFest 2015 exhibitors.)
