Healthy by Nature radio show THIS SATURDAY
test

We have all heard that about 1/3 of US adults are overweight and that a bit more than another third is obese. The prevailing theory of the cause is that we eat too much and exercise too little. But, what if that is wrong, or at the least there is a lot more to the story which we are not being told? My guest, award-winning investigative journalist, Mark Schatzker, will discuss his brand new book, The End of Craving: Recovering the Lost Wisdom of Eating Well.** Mr. Schatzker uses cutting-edge food science, psychology, neuroscience, and behavioral economics to help us understand the facts and how to avoid the eat-this/don’t-eat-that diet wars. I recall being very impressed with Mark’s 2016 HBN interview based on his terrific earlier book, The Dorito Effect: The Surprising New Truth About Food and Flavor.** Mark’s optimistic approach utilizes the intuitive intelligence of our brain and body, plus the power of real food, to create a delicious vision of what it actually means to eat well.

** Full disclosure. These asterisks indicate that HBN is an “affiliate” (usually of a show supporter sponsor or Amazon). I provide links for reader convenience, but I do want you to know that the show receives something if listeners make a purchase after going through that link. E.g. every 2-3 months, the show has gotten an Amazon check for about $15 which, although small, does help us break even.

My plan was to write a blog that followed up on Peter McCullough, MD’s New Year’s Day live interview. That will have to wait until next week. I was already running behind because of email problems. Then the real work began…

We are very proud that our granddaughter, Kayla Leggett just became a PA-C. (That is a Physician’s Assistant. The C means she is certified by the National Commission of Certification of PAs.) This comes after all the undergraduate work at Texas A & M, followed by 2½ years of training in medical school. Now she is off for a year of residency at a hospital. (I keep trying to make her aware of natural approaches so that they don’t totally brain wash her into believing that medications are the only answer.)

Last night was a party in her honor and so I made the medical white coat cake shown in the photo. I am very fussy about my cakes and so spent most of recent days working on it. It was not my best work and certainly not a health food cake, but it did taste good and happily, Kayla was pleased. (In spite of husband Bill’s generous help with washing the bowls and pans, it still took me most of the morning to clean up the giant mess I made of the kitchen. I even found frosting on my eyeglasses and phone. Bill took a picture of me at work, and I can see from how I’m bending over the island the reason my back is always sore at cake time.) Note: the banner shown in the other photo was printed by our son Andy’s UPS store in Celina, TX.

By the way, as soon as we got home from the party, we did a nebulizer / hydrogen peroxide treatment to get rid of any viruses we might have picked up.

Well, if I start now, there is a good chance I’ll have a useful blog for next week.

 UPDATE

For those of you who do not want to take a week off from learning, there is a new Bill Sardi article about resveratrol and brain preservation.

There comes a point where we need to stop just pulling people out of the river. We need to go upstream and find out why they’re falling in.” ~ Desmond Tutu

 LAST WEEK Show Follow-up

LISTEN to that show in the archives.

Let’s start 2022 by fighting covid-19 FEAR with FACTS! I was thrilled that our hero, Peter A. McCullough, MD, MPH was in the studio to set the record straight. In case you are not familiar (and surely impressed) with him from previous appearances on HBN (or what by now must be at least one hundred other media features), for starters, he is a cardiologist, an internist, an epidemiologist, the editor of a prestigious medical journal and one of the world’s most published researchers. He has something like 50 papers just on covid-19. Dr. McCullough has been the brave outspoken leader of courageous and ethical doctors in the struggle to provide lifesaving early treatment to covid-19 patients. He is one of probably only 3 “authority” docs that we see on TV who have actually treated a single covid patient. The others are media hack docs armed with a list of officially sanitized talking points (some of which are clearly false). (Click here for more of his extraordinary bio.) The 1/6 blog will review some details and some questions we didn’t get to.
