Toenail fungus sham and disease-creep

Healthy by Nature radio show this week

Lots of excitement this week…We’ll discuss shingles and the homeopathic shingles vaccine alternative with Cathy Lemmon, BA, CHP. Also one of our favorites, pharmacist and brainiac, Jim LaValle, R.Ph., C.C.N. will discuss inflammation and its role in heart disease, early aging, obesity, diabetes and autoimmune conditions. He is the author of Your Blood Never Lies, How to Read a Blood Test for a Longer, Healthier Life. Speaking of brainiacs, Lee Cowden, MD will talk about a new opportunity for health professionals (and avid lay people) to learn about functional medicine and receive CEU credit for it. Lastly, Robin Bollinger will pop in to tell us how to “Get Your Head in The Game”.

Toenail fungus sham and disease-creep

magician
How do you make a bunch of money magically appear? I find it impossible, but it seems to be pretty easy if you are a pharmaceutical company. This week’s blog is not only about a toenail fungus drug rip-off (and natural remedies), but also about a number of sly tricks that drug companies use to dramatically increase sales of their products at your expense. Speak up for sanity

Craziness going on in the State of NY might set a precedent that could affect availability of supplements everywhere. New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman publicly blasted a number of supplements from Target, Walgreens, GNC and Walmart. (Yes, I do prefer that people shop at health food stores where the goal is effectiveness not cheap price.) While there certainly could have been an inferior product or two in what he listed, the blanket condemnation was based on genetic testing–a procedure not appropriate for herbal extracts. Now he is sending subpoenas to retailers forcing them to prove claims on product bottles of some widely-studied herbs. Please email Attorney General Schneiderman. Let him know if you find supplements helpful and perhaps suggest that instead of this grandstanding witch-hunt, he might help taxpayers more by going after the bogus and adulterated weight loss and sexual enhancement products marketed on the internet or drug companies that bury negative test results or the massive near-fraudulent advertising of heartburn drugs on TV.

Last Week Follow-up

LISTEN to that show in the archives.

Telomeres are components of our chromosomes which house our genetic memory. They are visible under a microscope and are considered a measure of our physical (not calendar) aging. Life Extension Researcher, Rob Martin, explained that telomeres not only affect longevity, but are also associated with conditions of the brain, cardiovascular system, blood sugar and even our appearance. The great news is that they can be repaired! The product he discussed was Telovite. The code for a20% discount is martie.

Later in the program Rhonda Bone, owner of Rhonda’s Nature’s Way in San Antonio, and I discussed the controversy in New York State over supplement quality and how to know if you are buying a good product. Of course, since this is February we talked about key supplements for heart health.
