Cakes and books

Healthy by Nature radio show this week
Nutritionists and functional medicine experts strongly warn against eating GMO foods (genetically modified) and those crops that have been exposed to Roundup® type weed killersThe chemicals are linked to allergies, cancer, kidney / liver failure, birth defects, infertility and much more. The opposing side of the issue (e.g. seed / chemical producer, Monsanto, and even our trusty government) says basically “oh, don’t worry your pretty little head about such things beyond your understanding…we wouldn’t use them if they weren’t safe”. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Senior Research Scientist, Stephanie Seneff, PhD, helps us sort fact from fiction on these crucial topics.  Graduation gift trickery

It probably shows in the photo above that I’m very proud of my granddaughter, Kayla Leggett. She just graduated magna cum laude from Texas A & M University (TAMU). On the show website there is a LINK to a closeup picture of the cake I made for her. (BTW, everything you see on my cakes is edible, but not necessarily health food.) If you know any Aggies (that’s what they call grads of TAMU), you might forward this to them. Perhaps they will subscribe to the newsletter and learn more about being healthy.

Kayla’s degree is in biomedical sciences and she intends to go to medical school. As you might imagine, I am eager to “brain wash” her myself before the drug-company-indoctrinated medical school does their thing. Only a smattering of nutrition is taught in medical school. With a basic appreciation of the powerful effects of good nutrition and harmful toxins, she will more likely maintain her common sense and come out with a balanced view. So, we gave her 4 books, each with a coupon offering a hefty cash rebate when she reads that book. (Sneaky, right?) Not sure when she will get to them because she is studying for the entrance exam. But, when she needs money, she’ll find time!

That reminded me to list some of my favorite books that I recommend for your library. (No cash reward for you, just the benefit of the knowledge.) So that is the blog this week, 11 books that I wish everyone would read. (Maybe gift ideas too.) Click here to read this week’s blog.

“BIOLOGY is A science. MEDICINE is a business.” Thanks to Elaine Batiste for this one.

LISTEN to that show in the archives.

We talked with nutrition and naturopathy expert Michael Schwartz about blood pressure and detoxification as two examples of his mission to get people off the “medication-go-round”. We also talked about ideas for holiday gifts with Kim McClure from Lily of the Desert.

Health, energy, mood, brain power, etc. all begin with great digestion. The absence of obvious complaints (e.g. constipation, gas or heartburn) does not guarantee everything is in proper balance. My course covers how to fix those common complaints, but also the hidden problems. The 30 classes are short and easy to digest. (Just noticed the pun.) The videos are professionally done and are available as DVD’s as well as online. Use your subscriber code, HBN20, to save 20% off of the enrollment. Click here for more details

The Probiotic Cure. We now know that the microorganisms in our gut are a crucial part of our human instruction manual and that they control thousands of biological functions in our bodies. It is past time that we learned how to care for them because important varieties are disappearing and leaving illness behind.

Natural Alternatives to Nexium, Maalox, Tagamet, Prilosec & Other Acid Blockers. Subtitle: What to Use to Relieve Acid Reflux, Heartburn, and Gastric Ailments. Besides explaining the dangers of these medications and helping fix the real cause (which is seldom too much acid) this book is also helpful for solving other digestive problems.

Aloe Vera – Modern Science Sheds Light on an Ancient Herbal Remedy. Research shows that Aloe has benefit beyond skin and digestion–also for immune function, detoxification, nutrient absorption, blood antioxidant levels, blood sugar regulation and more. Learn how to pick the most potent brands.
